Welcome to teh 2018 NiSALS meeting in Edinburgh 2018. Sharon Abrahams will be hosting the event at the University of Edinburgh on the site of the Edinburgh Medical School and Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France just south of the city. Please click here to register to the meeting.

Dates: Weds 5th December (all day) and Thursday 6th December (morning and lunch)

Meeting location: University of Edinburgh, Chancellor’s Building, 47 Little France Crescent, Edinburgh EH16 4SB.

Suggested accommodation: These two University-owned hotel options are adjacent to each other at Pollock Halls, 18 Holyrood Park Rd, Edinburgh EH16 5AY. They both cost ~£120/night single occupancy, including VAT and breakfast.

  • Salisbury Green Hotel  A beautifully restored 3-star, 18th-century mansion-house hotel set in beautifully landscaped grounds at Pollock Halls.

Dinner: During the evening of Wednesday 5th December there will be a
drinks reception at 18:30 followed by the dinner at 19:15 at
St. Leonards Hall, Pollock Halls Campus, 16 Holyrood Park, EH16SAY

Locations and travel:

Pollock Halls (EH16 5AY; suggested accommodation and dinner venue) is just south of the city centre and Waverley train station (20-30 mins walk or a short bus/taxi ride). It is within walking distance of the Royal Mile and Scottish Parliament and is set in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat at Holyrood Park. Parking at Pollock Halls is free and is allocated on a first come first served basis.

Chancellor’s Building (EH16 4SB; meeting venue) is on the site of Edinburgh Medical School and the Royal Infirmary, south of the city. There is no accommodation on site, and there are few facilities except cafés. Parking is paid by the hour, and limited.
It is 2.4 miles between the two locations. Lothian Buses #33 runs up and down the A7 directly between the two locations, approximately every 15-20 minutes. See Lothian Buses journey planner.
Edinburgh has an international airport and there is direct tram service which connects the airport to the centre of Edinburgh at a good price.
